The Dedham City Park, located at the intersection of Highway 161 and Olympic Avenue in Dedham, boasts many features.
A newly-remodeled play area invites children of all ages to engage in physical activity. The brightly colored play area was added recently with money raised by community fundraisers.
The tennis court and basketball court allows athletes of all ages a chance to participate in those sports at any time of the day. The lighted court offers you an opportunity to engage in a game of tennis after the sun goes down.
The open field area in the southwest corner of the park allows visitors the room to play frisbee, croquet, softball, football, or any other activity requiring wide open space.
Dedham's newly renovated shelterhouse offers a kitchen complete with microwave, stove, refrigerator, sink, air conditioning and heat. The addition - a Quasquicentennial project - was completed in 2011 and increased the seating capacity to approximately 120 people (twelve 5' diameter round tables). The rental fee is $60 per day plus a $60 deposit. The deposit may be refunded upon satisfactory cleanup following use. For availability, please contact Annette Nees, 712-683-5567, or email anees@iowatelecom.net.
The sand volleyball court is located across the street, north of the park. The gazebo there allows a shaded area for spectators to lounge or for participants to cool off in between matches.
